A Life of Luxury

This article from the Business Observer just caught my attention. It says that Florida is “…among the top 10 states where $1 million buys the least amount of real estate…” Luxury properties in Florida go, on average, for $1,360 per square foot. That means a 753 square foot luxury property (about the size of a typical Lanark Village townhome) would cost a million dollars in many parts of the Sunshine State.

Maybe it’s worth that. Florida has warm weather, ocean breezes, and ample opportunities for leisure such as fishing, sailing, golfing, and bird watching. It’s a paradise, and it offers a million-dollar lifestyle for those who can afford it.

But lucky for me, it doesn’t have to cost that much. If you’re a beach bum on a budget, choosing a vibrant life on the Forgotten Coast might seem like a richer way to live.
